Original Art - Morocco Collection 2025
Where the photograph ends and the art begins.
These pieces started as travel photographs — moments caught in Morocco in 2018 that sat on a hard drive for years, waiting. Then came the paint, the marker, the abstract marks built up and paired back over many months. What you're looking at now is something in between: not quite a photograph, not quite a painting. A conversation between the two.
Made in the space between what was captured and what was felt.
Morocco has a visual language all its own — the zellige tile, the carved plaster, the light that turns everything amber. These pieces don't try to document that. They try to speak it back. Mixed media on archival photographic print; each work built up over months of layering and rebuilding until the marks felt like home.
4 ORIGINAL WORKS | 1 OF EACH, EVER
He didn't notice me.
He was leaning against a carved stone column in the medina — blue djellaba, cigarette, completely still in the middle of all the noise. I took the photograph. Then I spent months trying to figure out what it needed.
The painted marks that grow out of the architecture around him are pulled from the zellige tilework on the walls — the same geometric language that covers every surface in the medina. I wasn't decorating the photograph. I was trying to speak the visual language of the place back into it. The marks go everywhere. Except him. He stays exactly as he was.
There is one of this. That's all there will ever be.
This work begins as Nomad — available as a photography print in the shop — and is transformed through layers of acrylic, marker and ink into something entirely new.

The photograph this started as was quiet. Just a corner in Marrakech where I liked how the light fell. Nothing extraordinary happening.
Then I went rogue.
The gold and blue paint floods in from the right side of the frame — across the floor, up the wall, washing over the tile — while the left side stays exactly as it was. Dark, architectural, still. The contrast between the two halves is the whole point. What happens when you take something quiet and refuse to leave it alone.
This one was the most fun to make.

I found this down a random alleyway in the Fez medina.
No sign. No crowd. Just this — an archway of such extraordinary detail that I stopped completely and stood there trying to take it all in. The painted layer I added above the roofline isn't trying to compete with what's already there. It's softer than the other pieces. More like a response than an interruption. The architecture already had so much to say. I just added a little more sky.

I climbed to this rooftop in Fez and the sky did something I've never forgotten.
The painted marks that fill the upper two thirds of this piece came from listening. The call to prayer in a city of minarets doesn't arrive all at once — it builds, bounces, overlaps itself, becomes this layered insistent moving thing. I tried to paint that. The rooftops below stay exactly as they were — still, amber, ancient. Above them everything moves.
This is the smallest of the four originals and the most intimate for it. The kind of piece that works in a smaller space but fills it completely.

On the making
Each piece in this collection starts as a high-resolution photograph, carefully edited and printed onto archival-quality photographic paper. From there, it becomes something closer to painting — layers of acrylic, marker, and ink built up slowly over sessions.
The marks aren't planned in advance. They respond to what's already in the photograph — the colours, the geometry, the energy of the place. Some pieces took months of working and reworking before the layers felt honest.
What you're looking at is the versions that finally felt right.
